I’m a visual artist born and raised in South Jersey and have been creating art for as long as I can remember. Art has seen me through my turbulent teens and provided me with a successful career in the fine arts.
Although I’ve been practicing my art throughout my life, retirement from teaching has allowed me to work full time on my art. Painting and printmaking are my primary forms of artistic expression. I’ve been working on presenting the human figure in motion or in a static form to represent the passage of time and emotions. The early death from early-onset Alzheimer’s of my brother Jim has greatly affected me. I use drawings of dance and photographic images in the execution of my work. The focus on dance and the imagery of dance gives my work a context for the exploration of memory. A dance is a visual experience and once competed, it becomes a visual memory. Capturing a movement from a dance performance, my work focuses a visual window into a memory of the dance.
